Berkeley County Megadevelopment to Add Fuel and Convenience Store in 2023 | Business

One of the largest planned communities in Berkeley County will add a fuel and convenience store in early 2023.

Sharbell Nexton LLC has announced plans to construct a 4,800 square foot Daybreak Market & Fuel store in the developing downtown Nexton project near Interstate 26 and US Highway 17A.

Prairie Village, Kansas-based developer Plaza Street Partners purchased the 1.6-acre site in Sharbell in October for $1.9 million. It plans to open in the second quarter of 2022 with an expected opening date of early 2023.

Daybreak Market will operate the store. The group currently operates several dozen locations across the Carolinas and Florida.

The Nexton store will be between Sigma Drive and Brighton Park Boulevard on the southern part of the 5,000-acre property.

The mixed-use development will include retail, restaurants, offices, hotels and apartments

A total of three apartment plots will offer a variety of tenant offerings, including an upscale 55+ rental community. Some of the mixed-use buildings will include upper-floor lofts with a rooftop lounge and several common-use rooms. The units will range from studios to three bedrooms.

Additionally, downtown Nexton will include over 200,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space scattered throughout the project and along Sigma Drive.

Outdoor amenities will include walking paths, pocket parks and two well-maintained ponds on the north and south sides of the project.

Sharbell bought the plot in 2019 for $18.5 million, according to Berkeley County land records. It is west of the shopping and food center called Nexton Square.
