A NEW convenience store has finally opened in a rural village in Colchester after a series of coronavirus-related setbacks.
Nisa Local, formerly a Premier store, has just launched in Colchester Road, West Bergholt.
The store was due to open early last year after new owner Manickam Anbarasan bought the business and partnered with Nisa.
However, after encountering complications due to the pandemic, the project was blocked and the transformation works could not start until September.
The development involved a complete overhaul of the store, including an extension to create more retail space, increasing the store to approximately 1,500 square feet.
The interior also features new fixtures and fittings and a wide range of takeaway options, including ice cream, coffee and hot food, are now offered.
Mr Anbarasan said, “I have welcomed my new buyers and worked with them to ensure that I stock the products they are looking for.
“Trading is picking up and I hope to continue to make changes to the range to make it perfect and continue to develop customers.”
Lee-anne Evans, retail development manager at Nisa, believes the store will be a great asset to the community.
“It was amazing and I hear the customer feedback that has been so positive,” she said.
