Police appeal after South Shields convenience store robbery leaves staff ‘incredibly shaken’


At around 8.30pm yesterday, Sunday February 6, officers received a report of a theft from the one stop shop on Highfield Road.

It was reported that two men entered the store and threatened the occupants before one of them climbed onto the counter and stole money from the till.

The two men then left the scene on bicycles.

Thankfully no one was injured, but police said staff members were “incredibly shaken” by the incident.

An investigation is ongoing and police are now asking the public to help identify two men who may be able to help with the investigation.

They were wearing distinctive clothing, so officers are hoping someone can recognize them.
